I recently was contacted about providing my Weddings & Portraits by Jennifer King Photography services to a potential customer via Thumbtack. I vaguely remember signing up to be considered as a vendor on their site. I like how their directory listing works: you sign up to list your services for free with Thumbtack. It is not solely for photographer, but all typs of processional services in your area such as child care, realtors, even glass blowers! Once you register and fill out the basic info for your directory listing you then can begin to accumulate points for your listing by verifying your information, posting thumbtack buttons to your site, answer quetions about your business and the list goes on.
Just by connecting my listing with my Twitter, Facebook, and Linkd In, I earned several points which go toward the awarding of badges: Bronze, silver and gold badges. The higher your badge: i.e. if you have the Gold badge, then you get to move up to the front of the line for the directory listing. Apparently, if I write a blog post explaining this concept of Thumbtack.com, and then link back to my directory listing there from my blog, then Google will find me attractive and fall madly in love with
me err my website/blog and decide to list me higher up on the pages when someone searches for “Columbia SC Wedding Photographer.” So forgive me for not posting any photos or other interesting photo news, I have a new relationship I am trying to cultivate because as the song goes: I want Google to want me, I need Google to need me, and I would love Google to love me. So check out my Wedding Photography listing on Thumbtack.com! I think I’m sensing another love affair to come from this first date with Thumbtack: Me+ Thumbtack+ Google= BFF!!
